Behind the Chair with Pa: Beauty, Confidence & Bringing Head Spa Services to Sheboygan, WI

One of my favorite parts about running The Connection Blog is getting to introduce the people behind the businesses that make our community special. Today, I’m excited to share a conversation with someone I’ve personally known and trusted for years, my hairstylist, Pa.

If you know me in real life, you already know how much I look forward to my hair appointments. They honestly feel more like catching up with a friend while leaving refreshed and confident afterward. Pa has built a book of loyal clients here in Sheboygan, and after sitting in her chair for years, it’s easy to understand why.

We recently sat down to talk about her journey as a hairstylist, current hair trends, scalp health, and the new head spa services she’s bringing to the area after traveling to Japan and South Korea for education and inspiration.

Q&A with Pa

Cindy: Pa, I’ve known you for a long time, but for those who don’t know you yet, can you tell us a little about yourself and your life as a hairstylist?

Pa: I’m a hairstylist based in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, with over 15 years of experience behind the chair. I started my career with Redken training for the first two years, then spent eight years working as an Aveda stylist.

About five years ago, I decided to go independent, and I currently work with O&M products because I really value clean, natural ingredients that support healthier hair and scalp care.

Cindy: I always look forward to our appointments! What hairstyles are trending right now?

Pa: Natural is definitely the vibe right now. I love creating bold color but I’m also seeing a huge trend toward soft, lived-in blondes that grow out beautifully and are easier to maintain over time.

Cindy: Yes, because having blonde hair is hard to maintain! What’s one hair tip everyone should know?

Pa: This might be an unpopular opinion but washing your hair more can actually be beneficial. As an industry, we spent so much time encouraging people to wash less that we lost sight of scalp health. Now, I focus more on creating balance so both the scalp and hair can truly thrive.

That shift in thinking is actually one of the reasons I decided to start offering head spa services to my clients.

Cindy: Ooooh! What exactly is a head spa service? I’ve never done one before.

Pa: A head spa service starts with an in-depth microscopic evaluation of your scalp so I can better understand its condition and needs. From there, the treatment focuses on gently removing buildup, restoring balance, and creating the best environment for healthy hair growth.

It’s also incredibly relaxing. During the service, clients receive a therapeutic scalp, neck, shoulder, and hand massage designed to encourage relaxation while stimulating blood flow.

I actually traveled to Japan and South Korea to continue my education and learn more about these services so I could bring them back to my clients here in Sheboygan.

Cindy: That sounds amazing. I honestly can’t wait to try it. One last question: what’s something clients would be surprised to know about you?

Pa: Fun fact, my journey into the beauty industry actually started with a love for makeup and creativity. Back in 2010, I started a small YouTube channel where I shared makeup looks and nail art just for fun. At the time, I dreamed about combining beauty and photography by creating a space where I could offer both glam and photo shoots for clients.

I originally began my career specializing in bridal makeup and updos, and I loved being part of such meaningful moments in people’s lives. Over time, though, I discovered a deeper passion for hair color and transformations. Seeing someone leave my chair feeling confident and beautiful made me fall even more in love with this industry.

Looking back now, it’s crazy to think that a simple passion for makeup eventually turned into the career I have today.

I loved getting to share more of Pa’s story because it’s such a good reminder that behind every local business is a person who has spent years building their craft, continuing their education, and finding ways to better serve the community.

I’m personally so excited to try her new head spa services because honestly, between running around with family, work, real estate, and everyday life, slowing down for a little self-care sounds amazing.

If you’ve been thinking about refreshing your hair, trying a lived-in blonde, or just giving your scalp some extra attention, this might be your sign to book an appointment with Pa and support another talented local business here in Sheboygan.
